Versal
At Arizona State senior students from business, engineering, product design and visual communication design spend two semesters researching, developing and refining product concepts for Herman Miller for Healthcare. My team created Versal to improve the healing process.
Farce Side
Comedy Hour
In college my friends and I performed weekly improv and sketch comedy shows. I volunteered to re-brand our sketch comedy troupe, and I’m very proud of the solution.
PSAID
Public Service Announcements for International Disasters, held its third annual design competition, and my entry won first place. My submission explains why cash donations are the most appropriate response for international disaster victims.
Trade Trends
The university asked our class to create banners promoting Arizona’s economy for potential business owners seeking a move to the Grand Canyon state. My research compares state exports from California & Arizona with New York & Pennsylvania, because each pair of states share similar populations.
Typography Connections
I selected the Appendix of Type Designers from Robert Bringhurst’s book “The Elements of Typographic Style,” and created two 22 x 17 inch spreads. Both layouts explore an encompassing list of famous type designers and their contributions. The complex layout uses gray bars to show the designers who have most directly influenced themselves.
Kerning
Kerning is the space between letters. At first the text seems random, but much is achieved by alternating two colors. The goal is to surprise my viewers while teaching a bit of typography.
ASU Insight
I created a mock redesign of ASU's weekly newspaper. I set the paper aligned to a strict grid, so readers can clearly read headlines and stories.
